Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services, Inc. (SYFS) will present State Representative Hannah Kane (R-Shrewsbury) with the Harry S. Cutting Jr. Award at their Annual Breakfast Friday, Jan. 26.
“Hannah Kane continues to be a tremendous contributor to enhancing the quality of life for our Shrewsbury community,” SYFS Board of Directors Chair Tom Kennedy. “On behalf of the SYFS Board, we are pleased to recognize Representative Kane for her spirit of giving and support by presenting her with this prestigious award.”
Established by SYFS in 1990 to honor one of the agency’s founders and noted Shrewsbury philanthropists, Harry S. Cutting Jr., the award is given to honor members of the community community who, through their outstanding commitment and contributions, embody the spirit of giving, community service and support for the Shrewsbury community.
“I am deeply humbled to receive the Cutting Award and to be recognized alongside prior recipients who have contributed so much to SYFS and Shrewsbury,” said Kane. “I love our community and giving back to it brings me great joy, and the opportunity to collaborate with so many toward its betterment is a true privilege. My family has always impressed upon me the value of helping others, and my husband Jim and I hope our children are learning the same from us. I am grateful to my fellow board members at SYFS for this honor.”
SYFS Interim Executive Director Christine Mowry concurred with Kennedy’s sentiments.
“Hannah is an innovative leader who listens to the needs and challenges of the community sincerely, and responds effectively to bring about the greatest change,” Mowry stated. “There is no one more deserving of this award.”
SYFS is the community’s only private, non-profit counseling and social services agency. With a mission “to provide counseling and other supportive services to members of our community,” SYFS provides a diverse offering of programs and services that help to strengthen and support youth and families.
