Fitchburg – A number of local area high school athletes completed in the Fortieth Annual District E Indoor Invitational Track Meet for Division 1 schools on Saturday, February 10. The meet was held at the Fitchburg High School.
Among the boys, Westborough’s Eugene Meleshkevich won the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.68 seconds, Shrewsbury’s Andrew Kaye won the 1 mile run in 4:42.09, Westborough’s Isaiah Powers took first in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 7.97, and the Shrewsbury relay teams took both the 4×220 (1:38.79) and 4×880 (8:47.67) relays.
In the girls’ events, Algonquin’s Tess Reyes won the 1000 meter run in 3:10.41, Westborough’s Grace Desmond took second in the 300 meter dash (44.27 seconds) and Alexandra Avery finished second in the mile with a time of 5:34.67.
