Shrewsbury – For the second year in a row, the Shrewsbury High School Colonials boys’ hockey team is the MIAA Central Massachusetts Division 3. The team defeated the Hanover High School Indians in a game played March 18 at the TD Garden in Boston.  Hanover was previously undefeated.

The first quarter ended scoreless, but that would all change midway through the second quarter when SHS junior Tyler Borys found the back of the net for the first point of the game.  Hanover’s Zach Taylor also scored in the period, leaving the two teams tied.

Going into the third both teams stepped up and put the pressure on to break the tie. With just over six minutes left on the clock, SHS senior Conall Persichino sent Jim Tepper the puck. Approaching Hanover goalie Kevin Chandler. Tepper lifted the puck and launched it past the goalie to find the back of the net.

Hanover, not ready to give up, pulled Chandler with two minutes left for one last push but SHS held on to win the game. This was Shrewsbury’s second title win in as many years and fifth overall.
