Region – Over 100 local businesswomen attended the April 10 Business Females Forward (BFF) meeting, the women’s networking group of the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce.

Alyssa Dver, Chief Confidence Officer for the American Confidence Institute, was the luncheon’s guest speaker. Her presentation, “Kickass Confidence: Neuro-based Strategies and Secrets to Stand Out. Be Heard. Have Impact,” was based on her years of experience of using neuro-based techniques to help elite athletes, military and C-suite execs in their personal and professional lives.

Many times the missing ingredient that holds people back from a successful career or fulfilled life is confidence. As such, they may feel that there is no hope. But fortunately, as Dver told the audience, confidence is not genetic but rather can be learned by anyone. Using neuro-based techniques, the ACI helps people of all ages learn how to become aware of who they are and what they want to be known for; be clear about their needs; decide and act with compassion; leverage mistakes with growth-minded humility; and take control of thoughts and behaviors.

Dver also explained the traits of those with confidence, those without, confidence imposters, and what she described as “bonehead behaviors.” Recognizing these traits can also help one move forward to what she noted was “Kick ass confidence = Own your brain. Up your game”.

Each attendee received a copy of Dver’s latest book, “Kick Ass Confidence,” thanks to the generosity of BFF member Dawn Smith.

The next BFF meeting will be held Tuesday, May 8, at the Courtyard by Marriott, 75 Felton St., Marlborough. The guest speaker will be Barbara Shapiro, the president of HMS Financial Group.
