Francis Joseph Griffin

Georgia (formerly Westborough) – Francis Joseph Griffin of Sylvester, Ga.. (formerly of Westborough) passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at the age of 67. Francis was born on December 23, 1950 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Francis is survived by his children, Mathieu Griffin and daughter-in-law Rebecca of Tyrone, Ga., and Melissa Thayer and son-in-law Robert of Salem, grandsons, Brontz, Samuel, and Jameson; 6 siblings; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews. Francis was predeceased by his parents.

Francis loved his children and grandchildren and was extremely proud of them, telling friends and even strangers about them often. He was especially supportive of their fundraising and philanthropic efforts for nonprofits. Francis will be lovingly remembered for enjoying many things in life. He loved fishing in the ocean and hunting on the family land. He was an avid reader who loved reading history books. He was a die-hard Patriots and Red Sox fan and watched games as often as he could. He loved to dance and would take a spin around the dance floor every chance he got. All who knew Francis particularly remember his wonderful cooking—no one ever went hungry with him around. He would often take food to friends and neighbors who were in need. Francis will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held in Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Make-A-Wish Georgia at www.georgia.wish.org.
