Hudson – Over 2,200 residents from throughout the region endured rain Aug. 11 while satisfying their taste buds at the sixth annual Spirit of Hudson Food & Brewfest on the grounds of Hudson-Concord Elks Lodge 959. Proceeds from the popular fundraiser go to community service projects and scholarship funds of Hudson Rotary Club and Rotary Club of Nashoba Valley.

Festival-goers sampled food and desserts offered by about two dozen eateries from Hudson, Marlborough, Maynard, Northborough and Westborough. Numerous craft beers, malted beverages and ciders were available from over 80 breweries.

Once again stationed onsite was the Rolling Stogies mobile cigar humidor. Guests worked up appetites by playing field games including cornhole sponsored by Avidia Bank. Adding to the ambience, Wendy Darling & the Lost Boy provided live musical entertainment.

The event has consistently expanded since its inception in 2013 at the Avidia Bank parking lot on South Street with about 1,200 guests and 30 breweries participating. Last year, the fundraiser relocated to the Elks grounds with four tents covering 19,000 square feet. To accommodate this year’s ever-growing number of beer vendors and expected guests, a fifth tent was added to cover a total of 24,000 square feet.

Major event sponsors were the Community Advocate, Hudson-Concord Elks Lodge 959, Jacky Foster of Keller Williams Realty, Lemire Insurance Agency and Nashoba Blue.
