Shrewsbury – It’s September in Shrewsbury and that means folks are gearing up for the Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival. Now in its 23rd year, the festival takes place the weekend of Sept. 29-30. However, there are many activities and events that lead up to this perennial fall favorite:

The Liberty Church, 495 Hartford Turnpike, will host its annual Church Picnic, Sunday, Sept. 23. The cost is $10 per person or $30 for four. Tickets available at the church’s Welcome Center.

Join them for their Liberty Worship Concert Saturday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome. For more information, visit http://libertychurches.org or contact 508-845-0800 or [email protected].

Now in its 14th year, the Shrewsbury Garden Club’s scarecrow display encourages individuals, groups, businesses and clubs to get creative and get in the spirit of the season. The display runs from Sept. 24 through Oct. 19. There is no fee and this isn’t a contest but entries must be registered in order to receive acknowledgment. The Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main St., will hold an Animal Adventures program Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. The program will feature many varieties of impressive and exotic animals.
