Janet Magnant, 90, of Grafton

205

Janet MagnantGrafton – Janet Dow (Murphy) Magnant, 90, of North Grafton, passed away Sept. 12, 2018, with her loving family by her side. Janet was predeceased by the love of her life, Alfred J. Magnant, who passed away Nov. 20, 2017.

Born March 24, 1928 in Bridgeport, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Francis J. (Pete) and Charlotte Dow Murphy.

Janet is survived by her children, Richard and his wife Charlene, Kathleen, Thomas and his wife Chris, David and his wife Susan, Robert and his wife Gail, Wendy Atchue and her husband Milton, and John and his spouse Jay. She leaves 15 grandchildren, Keith, Jessica, Lauren, Nicholas, Danielle, Luke, Melissa, Jason, Alyson, Austin, Kyle, Seth, Candace, Holly, Matthew, and 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom

she loved and enjoyed spending time with. Janet is also survived by her loving dog, Lottie, who was by her side at all times.

Janet was the loving matriarch of the family who devoted her life to raise her children, being the greatest grandmother anyone could have asked for, and later a great-grandmother to rival any. She was an avid quilter and a phenomenal painter. Her paintings are hanging throughout her children’s homes.

Janet will be remembered most for the many family gatherings that included not only the holidays, birthdays and, of course, St. Patty’s day, but the everyday dinners and get-togethers that define the best of family. If you were ever looking to understand life’s ups and downs, make the room look brighter or just a word of encouragement, Janet was the first one you went to.

Janet will be celebrated in a funeral service Saturday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church, 17 Waterville St., North Grafton.

A Book of Memories to share a memory of Janet is available online at www.RoneyFuneralHome.com.
