Ann McGrathMarlborough – Ann Beatrice (Cummings) McGrath, 97, of Marlborough and formerly of Southborough, passed away Sept. 19, 2018 after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of Ralph T. McGrath for the past 51 years.

Ann “Betty” was a 1940 graduate of the former Peter’s High School in Southborough and earned a LPN from Framingham Union School of Nursing. She worked at Framingham Union Hospital as a nurse for 18 years before working at Mass Container of Marlborough as a machine operator.

Ann was an active member of the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers International Union where she was the union secretary for over 25 years. Her greatest joy was spending time and caring for her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Barbara Wallace of Missouri, Avis Simoneau and her husband Paul of Berlin, Durward McGrath of Florida, and Paul Hickey and his wife Christa of North Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Mary McClard of Woonsocket, R.I.; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three of her children, Marshall, Patricia and Joseph McClard, and all of her siblings.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, Sept. 24, from 5-7 p.m., at Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 10:30 a.m. at the Morris Funeral Home.
