Region – The Introduction to Judaism is an engaging 16-session course for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of Jewish life. Open to all, this course is meant for individuals and couples from Jewish and various faith traditions and cultural backgrounds and those who have had no religious upbringing. The course is perfect for interfaith couples, those raising Jewish children, spiritual seekers, individuals considering conversion, Jews who want a meaningful adult Jewish learning experience, and all those interested in learning more about Judaism.

The course is taught by rabbis from several congregations in Westborough and Worcester. The outstanding and experienced faculty encourage students to raise questions and engage deeply and personally with all topics. Topics include holidays, life cycle celebrations, theology and core beliefs, Hebrew, prayer, the Bible and other sacred texts, history, anti-Semitism and the Holocaust, Zionism and Israel, the American Jewish experience, and the tapestry of the Jewish people today.

The course is sponsored by Beth Tikvah Synagogue of Westborough, Congregation Beth Israel of Worcester, Congregation B’nai Shalom of Westborough and Temple Emanuel Sinai of Worcester. Classes will be held in Worcester and Westborough.

The course is free to members of the participating congregations. For unaffiliated students, the fee is $150. No one will be turned away for financial reasons. Please speak privately with one of the rabbis if a financial accommodation is needed.
