Carol A. PortanovaMarlborough – Carol A. (Mehigan) Portanova, 76, of Marlborough, died Dec. 21, 2018 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of James M. Portanova for the past 57 years.

She was born in Somerville, the daughter of the late John and Helen (Donovan) Mehigan, and was educated in Boston. She was a CNA for the Sisters of the Good Shepherd from 1988- 2007.

Carol enjoyed knitting, crafts, crosswords and Bingo. She was devoted to her family and loved family vacations at Hampton Beach. She was an outgoing and caring woman, the glue that kept her family together.

In addition to her husband, Jim, she leaves a son, James M. Portanova of Pembroke; three daughters, Nancy C. Murphy of Marlborough, Helen M. Hafford and husband Michael of Berlin, and Dawn M. Portanova of Dorchester; a brother, David Mehigan of California; two sisters, Eleanor Fiske of Hingham and Noreen Allison of Brewster; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Anthony Portanova; grandson, Corey J. Hafford; and her brother, Joseph Mehigan.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 28 in St. Matthias Church of Marlborough.
