Hudson YSAP fundraiser seeks dodgeball teamsHudson – Hudson Youth Substance Abuse Prevention (YSAP) is accepting team registrations for its first dodgeball tournament fundraiser. Teams of eight with six players and two alternates can consist of youth at least grade five, adults or intergenerational. The tournament will be double-elimination style with trophies awarded to each player of the Winning Team, Most Spirited and Best Uniform.

Maximum number of teams is 12. Early-bird team registration is $200 until Thursday, Feb. 28. Final team registration is $250 from Friday, March 1, to Friday, March 15, or when the maximum of 12 teams is filled.

The tournament is scheduled for Friday, March 29 (snow date Saturday, April 6), at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for a social hour with refreshments and a health fair in the cafeteria. Games will begin in the gym at 7 p.m. A number of door prizes valued at over $1,000 have been donated by local businesses. Each dodgeball player and attendee gets five chances to win door prizes.

Proceeds will help fund future programs and projects. Hudson YSAP is currently in the process of publishing a resource guide with information about substance abuse prevention and recovery. The guide will be given to the town’s police and fire departments, public library, as well as the middle and high schools’ libraries, nurses and guidance counselors.

The dodgeball team captains are asked to provide a team name. Captains and all players need to register online at hudsonhealthdept.org/ysap-dodgeball-tournament.
