Algonquin tops Marlborough, advances to semi-finals

Northborough – The second-seed Algonquin Regional High School field hockey team defeated seventh-seed Marlborough by a score of 3-1 in a Central Mass. Division 1 quarter-final playoff game Nov. 1 at the New England Baseball Complex.

Algonquin took control with first half goals by Alex Moll and Day Ruffo.  In the second half, Jackie McKinnon scored a goal for Marlborough, but Grace Ammon netted Algonquin’s final goal to seal the win.

Algonquin (16-1-2) advances to play Wachusett in the semi-finals.  The game will be played Monday, Nov 4 at Grafton High School.  Marlborough completes their season with an overall 10-6-3 record.
