Shrewsbury – If it’s the Saturday before Thanksgiving, then the Shrewsbury Holiday Craft and Farmers Market can be found in full swing in the gymnasium at Oak Middle School. For a fifth time, this year on Nov. 23, the event benefitted the Shrewsbury High School Robotics Team.
The Robotics Team was also a vendor, arriving at the school at 6 a.m. to start baking apple pies. It is their largest fundraiser of the year and a tradition that has taken place for at least 17 years, estimated Carol McInally, team mentor.
The team baked 800 pies, according to Paul Ottaviano, another team mentor. A portion of these pies were pre-sold and the remainder was sold at the Nov. 23 event.
