Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury girls and boys basketball teams swept Algonquin Regional High School in a doubleheader held Tuesday evening, Jan. 14.
In the first game of the evening, the Shrewsbury girls, now 7-1 on the season, outscored Algonquin 48-37. Sophomore Madeline Duke was the top scorer for Shrewsbury with 13 points. Carrie Hess (12 points) and Jalycianna Horton (11 points) also scored in double figures. Anna Grace Hjerpe was the top scorer for Algonquin with 11 points.
The Shrewsbury boys, also at 7-1 on the season, capped off the evening with a 79-52 win over Algonquin. Four Shrewsbury players scored double figures, led by junior Harith Kassim with 19 points. Ryan Cayton scored 14, John West added 13, and Cayman Warburton scored 11. Patrick Freeman was the top scorer for Algonquin with 21 points.
