Southborough – Gary A. Drake, 65, of Southborough, passed away Nov. 20, 2020 after a brief but aggressive battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Anna (Schwenk) and Albert Drake Sr.
Gary was raised in Southborough and was a 1972 graduate of Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough. During his career he worked for Data General and then as a contractor building and restoring many homes.
Gary enjoyed fishing and to great pleasure talking about his past fishing adventures. He was a diehard New England Patriots fan and was devoted to the Red Sox. In addition, he was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles and watching old classic black and white movies. Gary was also a huge animal lover. He was never without an animal companion by his side, his most heartfelt being Tobey, Sloppy Joe and Sarge.
He is survived by his children, Michelle Drake and her fiance Roland Jarosz of Dudley, Jessica Drake and her partner Michael Comeau of Leicester, and Michael Drake of Pembroke, N.H.; his siblings, Albert Drake Jr. and his wife Nancy of Rochester, N.Y., David Drake and his wife Amy of Hudson, and Kimberly Taubinger of Shrewsbury; his grandchildren, Haley and Heidi Jarosz; and his former wife, Candace (Ward) Drake of Florida. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Cheryl Drake.
All services are private due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Gary will be buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Westborough.
