Bernard F. CondryMarlborough – Bernard “Bernie” Francis Condry, 85, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on June 7, 2021. He was the husband of Claire (Trudeau) Condry for 61 years. He was born in Marlborough, the son of the late John and Elsie (Dorsey) Condry and lived here all his life.

Mr. Condry was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and went on to work 42 years, in many different positions, for the former American Telephone & Telegraph (AT&T) Company, and the current Verizon Corporation. He served the city of Marlborough as an On-Call Firefighter for many years.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a lifelong member of the Marlboro Fish & Game where he volunteered for many events including the Veterans fishing derby for many years. He was also a life member of the American Legion. He liked watching and following all New England sports teams. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed showing all the grandchildren his gardening skills while they enjoyed the bounty of his efforts.

He was always seen with Claire and loved spending time with family and friends. His swimming pool at 30 Rice was always sparkling and often the focal point of countless cookouts and gatherings.  He was always ready with a “cold one” for any family, friends or guests that would visit and would never let you leave until all the food was gone. Bernie and Claire enjoyed many summer vacations on Cape Cod and visiting family throughout the country.

Besides his wife, Bernie is survived by four children, Cheryl Alajajian and her husband Robert of Natick, Michael Condry and his wife Doreen of Upton, Patrick Condry and his wife Edwina of Marlborough, and James Condry of Westford; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Joshua, Meghan and her husband Zachary Lambert, Kyle, Colleen, Julia, and Nathan and Ryan; many nieces and nephews; his brothers, John “Jack” and his wife Dorothy and Raymond and his wife Ginnette; sister, Margaret and her husband Harry Pacific; and sister-in-law, Georgianna Condry, all of Marlborough. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Laura Condry, and brothers, Paul and Fred Condry.

His funeral will be held on Friday, June 11, at 11 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 10, from 5-7 p.m., in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., Marlborough. Interment will be private.
