Thelma L. PorterOviedo, Fla. – Thelma L. (Thompson) Porter, 95, Formerly of Shrewsbury, of Oviedo, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 18, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Thelma was born on January 26, 1926, to the late Vernon and Lillian (Taylor) Thompson and was raised in Arlington, MA. She graduated from Arlington High School on June 6, 1944.

Thelma married Reigh C. Porter on November 29, 1947. They celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary in 1997. In May of 2000 Reigh passed away. Devoted mother of Pamela L. Demirjian and her husband Dan of Newbury, Florida, Deborah A. Gendron of Oviedo, Florida, Sandra J. Young and her husband William of West Boylston and Heidi L. Anderson and her husband of James of Shrewsbury. Also survived by seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, whom she adored.

Thelma loved animals, especially cats and dogs, and she enjoyed watching musical movies and old shows on TV. Thelma’s favorite hymn was “In the Garden”, her favorite song was “God Bless America”, and her favorite color was blue. Thelma was known to be a cheerful giver, so naturally, her favorite holiday was Christmas.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation period on Tuesday, October 26th, from 10:00-10:45 am at the Chiampa Funeral Home – 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center. Her funeral service will follow at 10:45 am. In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, all attendees are kindly asked to wear face coverings and practice social distancing while at the funeral home and cemetery. Interment High Plain Cemetery, West Boylston
