Kelly P. MoranNorthborough – On Thursday, November 11, 2021, Kelly Patrick Moran, 65, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with multiple myeloma. He was surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Indiana but raised mainly in Ohio and Kentucky, Kelly’s heart eventually led him to Massachusetts, where he lived for the remainder of his life.

Kelly was an employee of Staples’ corporate office for nearly 30 years. He was an accomplished outdoorsman and an avid athlete. Whether climbing up mountains or skiing down them, participating in track and field, soccer, basketball, or biking, from his youth to his adult life, he found joy in each activity and sport. He was a beloved camp counselor at Camp Piomingo in Brandenburg, Kentucky, alongside his lifelong friend, Robert Sprawls.

Kelly had a deep love of music that encompassed all areas of his life. He was an accomplished drummer and guitar player. A master craftsman, he married his love of music with his love of woodworking to build his own guitars.

Any chance he got, Kelly loved to travel, both domestically and internationally. He loved to explore other cultures and have a deeper understanding of how we are united through our commonalities instead of separated by our differences.

Even in his final days, Kelly found the strength to enjoy one of his favorite pastimes: eating Northborough House of Pizza and watching the New England Patriots beat their opponent handedly with his family.

Kelly was full of love and caring for other people. He was a man of few words, but when talking about things that mattered to him, he spoke volumes. He was most proud of his daughter, Hannah Bea. Kelly was kind, even-keeled and significant to everyone who met him.

He is survived by: his daughter, Hannah Bea Moran of Northborough MA; his former spouse, Shawn Gillespie of Hudson MA; his sister, Martha Moran and her husband, Mike Shatzkin of New York City; his brother, Kevin Moran and wife Amy Pritts of Milford OH; his sister, Karen Shively of Dublin OH; his brother Kenan Moran of Hoboken NJ; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, coworkers and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Moran.

A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2022.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kelly’s name may be directed to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, P.O. Box 414238, Boston, MA 02241-4238 (www.themmrf.org).

Hays Funeral Home of Northborough assisted with arrangements.
