Virgilio F. FaticantiShrewsbury – Virgilio F. “Virg” Faticanti, 93, of Shrewsbury a decorated Korean War, U.S. Air Force veteran passed away peacefully,  Thursday, November 11, 2021, at home surrounded by family.

Virg was born in Worcester, one of ten children of Virgilio F Faticanti, Sr. and Lucy (Valentino) Faticanti. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School, joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, serving proudly as a Bomber Aircraft Crewman and Pilot. Upon discharge from service, Virg moved to Enfield CT, where he accepted a position with Choice Vend Tool and Die Company rising from machinist to Supervisor over 20 years before retiring.

Virgilio is survived by his soulmate and life partner of over 18 years, Dorothea Pecora, and her family; a brother, John Faticanti; a sister-in-law, Judith Faticanti; Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

One of ten children, Virgilio was not blessed with any children of his own, but found boundless joy with Dorothea’s children and grandchildren, his siblings, and his nieces and nephews. He was a licensed pilot who found peace and enjoyment flying. Virgilio and Dorothea also enjoyed the casino, senior bus trips, eating out and going to the movies. Whomever he met, they found Virg to be a gentleman, meticulously well dressed, a huge heart, bright smile and an amazing man.

A period of calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 16, from 3 pm to 5 pm followed by a prayer service in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. He will be buried privately.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name can be made to St Jude Children’s research hospital, 501 St Jude Way, Memphis, TN.
