Region wakes to snowy scenes after light snowfall

REGION – The region woke Thursday, to some of this winter’s first accumulated snowfall.

Though not a major storm, flurries drifted in on Wednesday and cleared from the area overnight.

That left anywhere from a coating to an inch of snow in local communities.

The National Weather Service’s Boston office did warn, Thursday, of black ice that could impact the morning commute for some.

“Drive with caution,” it wrote in a statement on social media. “Expect conditions to improve by mid-morning as temps rise above freezing.”
