Eugene J. BradyShrewsbury – Eugene J. Brady, 87, of Shrewsbury, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. He leaves his loving wife of 58 years, Mary P. (Manning) Brady.

Eugene was born on October 21, 1934, in New York City, and was raised there by his adoring parents, Patrick and Julia (Earley) Brady, both immigrants from Ireland, along with his brothers, Patrick and Vincent, who predeceased him.

Serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, Eugene earned the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a jet engine mechanic and received an honorable discharge.

Eugene had a decades-long career as an account representative with the 3M Company. He enjoyed the camaraderie of the office and working with clients.

Eugene was a lifelong learner. He graduated from Bishop Dubois High School in New York City, attended St. John’s College in Annapolis, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Worcester State University. He had wide-ranging areas of academic interest including history, business, literature, classical studies, Latin, and French. He enjoyed participating in Toastmasters groups, learned tai-chi in later life, and at times worked as an instructor for the Dale Carnegie program. In later years, he hosted a weekly French radio segment and acted with a community theater group. He enjoyed playing basketball as a young man and continued to work out at local gyms well past retirement age.

Eugene is survived by his three daughters: Doreen Brady (Theodoros Moisiadis), Brenda Alcorn (Don), and Monica Derico. Eugene enjoyed spending time with his three loving grandchildren: Parthena Moisiadis, Panagiotis Moisiadis, and Emma Alcorn.

Eugene was a devoted husband and enjoyed his last years spent at Benchmark Senior Living at Shrewsbury Crossings with his wife and the friends that he made there. His family and friends will long remember his kind heart, generous spirit, and friendly nature.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his funeral mass on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 10:00 am in St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Interment with military honors will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
