Northborough – Joseph Desape, 82, of Northborough, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 21st, 2022, with devoted family members gathered at his bedside after a period of declining health.

Joseph was born in Moreau, Camp Perrin, Haiti, the son of Dicerone and Juliana (Charlien) Desape. Raised in Haiti, Joseph immigrated to the United States, in 1984, settling in Miami, where he accepted a position in the Miami racing industry working more than 20 years, before retiring as a supervisor. The more notable racetracks he served were Hollywood Greyhound, Gulfstream, Hialeah Park Casino and Calder tracks.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Mireille (Gedne) Desape; his four children, Fabienne Desape Bernard and her husband Mikelange of Haverhill, Jean Max Desape and his wife Nadege Henry of Framingham, Murielle Desape-Ducrepin and her husband Jacques of Holliston, Diana Desape and her husband Lucimar Rabelo with whom he lived; a stepson, Joel Marc of Hyde Park;  a sister, Marie M. Desape and brother, Luthes Desape both in Haiti; eight grandchildren he found so much joy with, Anayka and Orpha Milien, Marvyn Desape, Biana Desape, Kayla Ducrepin, Stajia Toussaint, Ryan Max  and Zayden Desape; two great grandchildren, Zaniah and Nathaniel Milien. Joseph also leaves his extended family members, God children, Lynda Orphee and Nick Sanon, nieces and nephews, Nadia, Natasha, Laurence and Fombrun Dodier, Myriam Jeune Polifort, Pierre Dennis, Jean Kenzy, Kisinger and Pierline Chouloute Jeune, Nikita, Armanda, Ketia, Sandra, and Sherline Desape, and Guerline Elysee. He also leaves behind other family members and friends in the United States and Haiti.

Joseph was a kindhearted man with a bright smile, welcoming handshake, and dedicated work ethic. Joseph cherished his family and was a friend to all whom he met.  Joseph worked tirelessly in Miami to raise his family and provide for their wellbeing. He loved his job, the racing and casino industry and found so much pride being recognized for his efforts. His family always came first in his life. He will be missed dearly.

Funeral services for Joseph will be held Saturday, September 3rd. with a period of calling hours held from 8 am to 10 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street. A procession will begin at 10:30 am to Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove Street in Worcester where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am. A procession will then be held to Edgell Grove Mausoleum, 53 Grove Street, Framingham, MA.
