Pauline A. OrdwayLudlow – Pauline A. (Marcheterre) Ordway, 93, of Ludlow, MA, formerly of Marlborough, MA died on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Keystone Commons in Ludlow, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank T. Ordway who died in 1990.

Pauline leaves her son Steven Makos and his loving girlfriend Gina Plouffe of Chicopee, MA; her brother Paul Marcheterre and sister Dottie Amberg. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings John, Rita, Robert, Norman, Charles, Albert and Marilyn.

Pauline was born in Hudson, MA and raised in Marlborough, MA. She attended local schools until she went to work for Brown Shoe Company as a press operator in Worcester, MA. She temporarily stopped working to remain at home raising her son Steven. She then began a long career in food service, first taking a position with the Marlborough High School Cafeteria as a baker and later with the New England Telephone Learning Center in Marlborough as a baker until her retirement. She was a member of the former Christ the King Parish in Hudson, MA.

Pauline remained active throughout her life and was an avid candlepin bowler frequenting the Sawyer’s Bowladrome in Northborough, MA until she was in her 90’s. In her younger years Pauline and her husband Frank owned and operated Crafters World in Marlborough and later in Hudson. She was an accomplished knitter, crocheter and exceptional at the art of crafting. She annually held classes at her home in Marlborough instructing both adults and children at the art of crafting, especially during the Christmas season. Later in her life she always looked forward to weekend and day trips with the Marlborough Senior Center sponsored trips, often they would go to Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun and occasionally to Atlantic City. Pauline truly had a zest for life and cherished all the wonderful people she encountered along her journey. She was a shining light and inspiration to her son Steven and will be remembered always by those who loved and knew her.

A funeral service and celebration of Pauline’s life will be held at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 1:00PM. Family and friends may attend a period of visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00PM prior to the service. Procession will follow to Forestvale Cemetery, Broad Street, Hudson, MA for committal services.
