MARLBOROUGH – Lincoln Street looks a lot different now.
Three older buildings between Lincoln and Mechanic streets are being torn down to make way for the Alta Marlborough mixed-use project.
Site clearance on the 4.5-acre parcel began a few weeks ago. On Aug. 11, demolition began on an old factory building.

When completed, the site will be transformed into about 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and commercial space; 276 dwelling units and an on-site parking garage with 448 spaces.
Along the parcel adjacent to the Assabet River Rail Trail, a restroom building and 22 off-street parking spaces will be created.
