Hixson, Tenn. – Martha Claire Knee passed away August 23, at age 97. She was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts to Eugene and Mabel McManamy, attended schools there and graduated with a B.S. from Boston University.
She taught in the school systems of Winchester and Melrose, Massachusetts before marrying in 1956 and relocating to Kingston, Ontario.
She later moved to Tennessee, taught school in Sumner county and after spells in Wilmington, Delaware, Camden, South Carolina and Dordrecht, Holland has lived in Chattanooga since 1976.
She was a member of Saint Jude Catholic Church and P.E.O. and the Dirt Dabbers Garden Club.
She was proceeded in death by her daughter Jacqueline and is survived by her husband, Terence, son Michael (Jacqulyn), daughter Christine Menard, grandchildren Christian, Nicholas and Sarah Phoebe Knee, Stephen Menard, Caroline Palladino, and three great grandchildren.
Visitation was Tuesday, Aug 29 at 10:00am at Saint Jude Catholic Church in the Life Care Center followed by a Memorial service.
