Gertrude L. MorinNorth Grafton – Gertrude L. (Gemme) Morin, 98, of North Grafton, formerly of Shrewsbury and Worcester, passed away, one month before her 99th birthday, on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, in the comfort of the home she shared with her nieces and nephew in law.

Gertrude was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Morin in 1989.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Paul and Olive (Bolduc) Gemme and was predeceased by her six siblings, Paul Gemme, Jr., Olive Prunier, Ernest Gemme, Rene “Brownie” Gemme, Marie Brazeau, and Therese Gemme; she was also predeceased by two nieces and two nephews, Jeanne Ducasse, Jacqueline Gemme, Alfred Gemme, and Hervey Brazeau.

Having no children of her own, Gertrude cherished the relationships she shared with her nieces and nephews including, Janet Prunier, Ann Marie Gonyea, and Jeanne’s husband Roger Ducasse with whom she lived, Richard Gemme and his wife Pam, Maurice Gemme, Roger Gemme, Jeannine Levine, Adrien Prunier and his wife Janet, Omer Prunier, Marguerite Baril and her husband Ray, Robert Gemme and his wife Gail, Paul Gemme and his wife Maureen, Charles Gemme, Deborah Kerstedter, Robert Brazeau and his wife Mary, Marie-Rose Pellegrino and her husband David, William Brazeau and his wife June, and Hervey’s wife Joan Brazeau; and many more great nieces and great nephews.

Trudy as she was affectionately known, operated Trudy’s Beauty Salon in Worcester for many years, before becoming a night attendant at Worcester State Hospital. A woman who constantly gave of herself, Gertrude was her sister Therese’s personal care giver for many years.

She was a life-long member of Saint Joseph Parish. She also attended Saint Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury where she became a devoted volunteer at Saint Anne’s Human Services.  She enjoyed listening to Mother Angelica on EWTN. She was faith-filled and prayed daily for everyone, especially her family; and had a special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Her family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all her care givers for the compassionate care and comfort provided to Gertrude, allowing her to remain at home and to those that guided her  through her final days.

Family and friends will gather for Calling Hours on Monday, November 6, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by a procession to an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint Joseph Holy Family Parish, 35 Hamilton Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
