Gary G. HemmerdingerShrewsbury – Gary G. Hemmerdinger, 78, of Shrewsbury, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Karin J. (Goranson) Hemmerdinger.

In addition to his wife Karin, he is survived by his children, Jon Hemmerdinger and his wife Kim of Holden, Jason Hemmerdinger of Bradenton, FL, and Krista Hemmerdinger of Salisbury, MA; his grandchildren Lily Grace Hemmerdinger and Zack Guild Hemmerdinger, both of Holden; and his sisters Heidi, Gretchen, and Kristi. In addition, he is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many cousins. Sadly, he is predeceased by his sister Cara.

In addition to being very family oriented, Gary was known as a true gentleman whose qualities of kindness, gentleness, and humility are fondly remembered by all who knew him. He had a loving and caring nature and was always willing to reach out to others to offer his help and support. He was soft spoken and also a good listener. People knew they could count on him no matter what. His attention to detail carried over into the kitchen, where he learned to become an excellent cook. He also was known for his artistic nature.

One of Gary’s favorite things to do was relax and spend time with family whether at home or at Lake Winnipesaukee. He enjoyed many outdoor activities such as golf, camping, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, hockey, and boating. An avid Boston sports fan, he especially loved watching the Red Sox, Patriots, and Bruins. In addition to watching and participating in sports, he used his love of sports as a coach of baseball and soccer. Gary was also fond of travelling around the world and was able to visit all seven continents over the course of his life. His vibrant spirit and kind heart will be very much missed but never forgotten.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Funeral Service will follow. Interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s honor, may be made towards charities of your choice or forward a good deed onto another.
