Shrewsbury – Joan M. Milsop, 83, of Shrewsbury, MA passed away at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, Worcester, MA on February 22, 2024.
Joan was born on October 1, 1940 in Dover, NJ to the late Harold W Dickerson and Marie Agnes Murphy. She grew up in Berkshire Valley, NJ, graduated from local high school and attended Patterson State Teachers College.
Joan met her husband Bob while both were working part-time at Bamberger’s Department store in Morristown. Married in 1966 Joan worked for Schering-Plough in Union and her husband Bob, a major insurance company in Newark. They moved to Connecticut in 1973 where she left the insurance world to become business manager for the public schools of Canton, CT. The couple moved to their current home in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts in 1987 where Joan became the business manager of the Grafton, MA schools.
Joan was an active member of Shrewsbury Congregational Church, serving as a member of the Board of Deacons. Joan left Grafton for what she thought would be a well-earned retirement, but subsequently started work, part-time, as a cashier at Price Chopper in Shrewsbury. She left Price Chopper on doctor’s orders (she suffered from COPD) at the start of the Pandemic.
She leaves behind her husband Bob, her sister Barbara Endean and her nephew William Dickerson, all of Shrewsbury.
Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Thursday, February 29th, 2024 at the Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton, NJ 07885.
A funeral service will be held 10am on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Berkshire Valley Presbyterian Cemetery, Wharton.
