Elaine L. KelleyShrewsbury – Elaine Lucille (Pomerleau) Kelley, 93, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Shrewsbury Nursing Home, with her loving family at her side.

She leaves her beloved daughters, Suzanne M. Chatten and her husband Daniel, of Shrewsbury, and Theresa E. Paris and her husband John, of Oakland, CA; grandchildren, Erin Chatten, Stephen Chatten, Kevin Chatten and his fiancée Michaela Scarpone, Kelley Paris, and Jack Paris; her brother, Raymond Pomerleau; along with several nieces and nephews. Elaine was predeceased by her loving husband, James Stephen Kelley; her brother, Norman Pomerleau; and her parents, Joseph and Laura (LaJoie) Pomerleau.

Elaine was born in Berlin, New Hampshire. She graduated from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Brighton, MA, and met her soon-to-be husband, James, in Boston. The pair were then married and raised their family in Cambridge. She was a lovingly devoted homemaker for her husband and children.

In 1997, they moved to Shrewsbury. Elaine was very active in the Shrewsbury Senior Center, was co-founder of Busy Hands Knitting Group, and was a Friendly Visitor Volunteer.

Elaine’s family, friends, and Shrewsbury Nursing Home community will feel this loss deeply, and she will be forever loved and remembered.

Her family would like to especially thank the Shrewsbury Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for all of the wonderful care and support they provided to Elaine and her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather for Elaine’s funeral Mass, which will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be held privately for her family. The Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
