Grafton – Janice (Buzzell) Smith, 82, passed away peacefully April 1, 2024 in Webster with her loving family at her side. Her husband Butler H. Smith predeceased her.
She leaves her children Butler Smith, Jr. and his wife Betty, Sharon Begin and her husband Raymond, Cindy David and her husband Mark and Darlene Smith-Szkutak, her grandchildren Brandon, Dustin, Renee, Beth, Raymond, Nick, Courtney, Samantha, Matt and Jacob, her great-grandchildren Colbey, Jack, Millie, Hayley Asher and Braxton, her sisters Rosemarie Laflamme and Judith Legere and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Linda Lemelin.
Janice was born in Whitinsville, daughter of the late Dorilla (Girouard) and William Buzzell. Her roots were in Grafton where she was a graduate of Grafton High School in 1959. She worked for many years at JJ O’Donnell and then BayState Abrasives until her retirement in 1990.
Away from work she never had idle hands, always working on a knitting project, finding a bingo game or enjoying a round of golf. Family was always first, especially her grandchildren who will all dearly miss their beloved “GMa”.
All are welcome to gather with Janice’s family and friends Thursday April 4th from 4-7pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester Street N. Grafton, MA 01536 followed by a prayer service at 7pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private at a later date.
