Sturbridge – Dylan M. Chaves, 31, of Sturbridge, MA, formerly of Hudson, MA, passed on Tuesday April 30, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Rebecca A. (Leeber) Chaves, also of Sturbridge, MA.

Dylan is survived by his wife Rebecca, and their three children Ethyn, Zoey and Bree of Sturbridge, MA; his mother Bella (Monteiro) Chaves and her partner Paul Englehart of Hudson, MA; his father Rafael Chaves and his partner Cheryle Chaves of Portsmouth, RI; his brother Bryan Chaves and his wife Connie of Clinton, MA; his paternal grandparents Herculano M. Chaves and Helena L. Chaves of RI; his maternal grandparents Maria Helena Monteiro, wife of the late Manuel Monteiro, of Hudson, MA; his parents-in-law Carl and Cheryl Leeber of Clinton, MA; his sisters-in-law Nicole Budge and her fiancé Jon, and Rose Leeber; his brother-in-law Joe Leeber; his best friends, whom he considered to be brothers and sisters to him ; as well as other relatives and friends.

Dylan was born on July 25, 1992, in Natick, MA, to his parents Rafael and Bella Chaves. He was raised in Hudson, MA, and attended Hudson schools, graduating from Hudson High School in 2010. Upon graduation, Dylan went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Protection from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 2016. Prior to his passing, Dylan was working as EHS Manager at Moderna in Norwood, MA, under employment by the Cardinal Group.

Dylan enjoyed axe throwing as a member of Into the Grain Axe Throwing in Sturbridge, MA, as well as scuba diving, ocean fishing, and ice hockey. He loved spending time with his family, but above all else, being a father to his three children was his greatest passion.

Dylan was a loving, thoughtful, caring, and  adventurous , and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

I’d like to thank his employer Cardinal Group for all the love and support during this time. Thank you for making work not seem like work to him. He enjoyed calling Moderna his second home.

Calling Hours for Dylan will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 10am-12pm, at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, in Hudson, MA. A Funeral Service will be held following Calling Hours on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, beginning at 12pm; followed by a procession to Forestvale Cemetery, Broad Street, in Hudson, MA, for Committal Services.
