Brookfield – Yvonne P. (Chapdelaine) Howard, 85, formerly of Northborough, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after a long illness. Her husband, Edgar “Bumpy” Howard, died in 1995.
She leaves three sons, Laurence Howard and Edgar Howard Jr., with whom she lived, and James Howard of E. Douglas; several nieces; and a cousin, Harvey Chapdelaine of Northborough.
Born in Northborough, daughter of Joseph and Exilda (Bodreau) Chapdelaine, she lived there for 50 years before retiring to Maine for 14 years. She moved to Brookfield in 1990. She graduated from Northborough High School and attended Becker Jr. College.
Mrs. Howard worked at St. Pierre Chain in Worcester in the production department during World War II. She worked at the Stewards Office of both Grafton State Hospital and Westborough State Hospital. Many years ago, she worked at Shattuck Pharmacy in Northborough.
She loved to crochet and collected many beautiful dolls, which she displayed in her home.
A calling hour will be held Monday, Nov. 28, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral at 11 a.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery of Northborough.
