Hudson – Maria C. (Monteiro) Andrade, 98, of Hudson, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020 at Casa de Ramana Rehabilitation Center in Framingham after a period of declining health. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Francisco Andrade.
Maria was born in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal on November 11, 1921, the daughter of the late Antonio and Antonia (Puim) Monteiro. She was raised in Santa Maria and married the love of her life, Francisco Andrade, who passed away in 1965. She eventually immigrated to Hudson, MA, where she has resided for over 40 years.
Maria was a devoted homemaker and loved spending time with her family, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout her entire life Maria maintained a devout faith in her Catholic beliefs and was a longtime member of Saint Michael Parish in Hudson, where she attended Mass regularly. She also enjoyed caring for her plants, knitting, crocheting and sharing her many doilies, blankets and knitted crafts with her entire family.
Maria is survived by her son, Francisco Andrade and his wife MaryLou of Hudson; her daughters, Maria Braga of Hudson, Fatima Bairos of Hudson, Genevieve Dee of Hamden, Conn., and Edwarda Andrade of Hopkinton; her daughters-in-law, Cecilia Andrade and Ana Andrade; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her two sons, Jose Antonio Andrade and Alberto Andrade; her sons-in-law, Joao Braga, Antonio Bairos, and Michael Dee; and six siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation Friday, Oct. 30, from 4-7 p.m., at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 31, at 9 a.m., at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery for Committal Services.
