Doris P. RyanGrafton – Doris P. Ryan, 90, a long-time resident of the Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility, passed away peacefully on Aug. 8, 2021.

Born Doris P. Ciborowski on May 14, 1931 in Worcester, she was the daughter of Steven and Pauline Kosinski Ciborowski. The family moved to North Grafton in 1943 where Mom went to Grafton High School. She then worked at the Grafton State Hospital as a nurse. She met the love of her life, Robert L. Ryan, there and on January 21, 1950, they were married, the second couple to be married in St. Mary’s Church.

Bob and Doris were longtime residents of North Grafton where they raised their family and enjoyed many wonderful times and trips with their family and friends. Doris worked as an assistant to her husband’s photography business and then worked for a number of years at Bay State Abrasives.

She was a wonderful homemaker, cook, gardener, and animal lover. She enjoyed dancing, reading, making jigsaw puzzles, playing Solitaire, going out to dinner, and traveling.

Predeceased by her husband, her parents and her two sisters, Emily Hayes and Victoria Wood, Doris leaves her daughter, Catherine L. Ryan; her son, Steven P. Ryan and his wife Christine of North Grafton; and a son Michael F. Ryan and his partner Cynthia Jimenez of West Palm Beach, Fla. She also leaves her grandsons, Steven, Matthew and Tyler Ryan; granddaughters, Tammy D’Amato and Christine Ortiz; and three great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to gather with Doris’s family and friends on Saturday, Aug. 14 from 12-1 p.m., at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton, followed by a prayer service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. She will then be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Grafton.

Special thanks to the hospice team from Brookhaven as well as the staff at Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility, who cared for my Mom for over nine years.
