Shrewsbury – Kathryn M. (Crawford) Flaherty, 89, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2021 in the comfort of her home, with her loving family at her side.
She leaves her children: Thomas W. Flaherty, of Westborough, Robert J. Flaherty and his wife Theresa, of Walpole, William J. Flaherty and his wife Patricia, of Grafton, Ann F. Wendth and her husband Jeffrey, of Slingerlands, NY, and Donna M. Freeman and her husband John, of Southborough; her grandchildren, Brian, Erin, Kevin, Rachel, Michael, Kelly, William, Matthew, Meghan, Patrick, and Caroline; and her great-grandson, Robert Brian Dacey. Kathryn was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Thomas D. Flaherty, Jr., who passed in 2020; her sister, Sr. Madonna Crawford (Sisters of Mercy); and their parents, William and Ann (Ashley) Crawford.
Born in Woonsocket, Kathryn was a graduate of St. Xavier’s High School in Providence. She was a gentle soul with boundless devotion for her family. She met and married Tom, the love of her life, in 1954 and raised five children. She was always so welcoming and hospitable, and always interested in the ups and downs of others’ lives. Kindness and understanding were built into her nature. Kathryn was also a woman of deep faith and prayed a great deal for everyone — she had a heart as big as they come.
Kathryn’s family would like to thank the many caregivers at Southgate and HomeWell Care Services for their kindness and care of their mom.

Kathryn’s family will be celebrating her funeral Mass and burial privately. The Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
