Westborough – After a series of weekends with inclement weather, comfortably warm temperatures contributed to a successful 13th annual Westborough Spring Festival, presented by the Rotary Club of Westborough. This year’s festivities began May 1 with a first-time event: Red, White and Brew, a fundraiser to benefit local military veterans, held at the Grille at the Westborough Country Club
The festival continued May 2 with the Westborough Civic Club’s eighth annual Fishing Challenge at Minuteman Park. Families gathered at the Bay State Green for the Kids Carnival, hosted by the Westborough High School (WHS) Student Council. They also enjoyed racing slot cars and riding the roaming railroad, sponsored by Avidia Bank. Another first-time activity was the Youth Bike Rodeo with free helmets, organized by the Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.
Live entertainment was provided by six acts in the Music Fest, sponsored by Ball Financial Services Company. Discover Westborough Expo showcased local businesses and organizations. Appetites were satisfied with the Rotary Grill and Westborough Food Expo. Later that evening, the Westborough Lions Club served its 21st annual Italian dinner with an auction at WHS.
Festivities resumed May 3 with a day full of sponsored activities: 13th annual Rotary 5K Road Race, Westboro Tennis & Swim Club; 3rd annual Kids Dash, Boroughs JCC; car and military vehicle show, Central One Federal Credit Union; magic show performed by Fran Flynn, Avidia Bank; and several activities for dogs including a race, spa and an amateur show sponsored by the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University
Proceeds from the festival go toward ongoing charitable endeavors of the Rotary Club of Westborough. For more information, visit westboroughrotary.org. Follow on Facebook at facebook.com/westboroughrotary.
