Shrewsbury Cultural Council offers grants

Shrewsbury – C Past grants have supported school field trips, afterschool programs, concerts, lectures, theater, dance, music and art projects. Programs take place in schools, community centers, libraries, elder care facilities, town halls, parks and wherever communities come together. The Shrewsbury Cultural Council is managed by town residents appointed by the Board of Selectmen. It is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Grant applications are available at Town Hall or can be downloaded from the Cultural Council website: www.mass-culture.org/Shrewsbury. Grants are reimbursement-based, and payment is made after the event or project. Application original and eight copies of the grant proposal are due at the Town Manager’s office at Town Hall by Thursday, Oct, 15. The event must take place between January and December of the next year (2016).

Funded events must directly benefit the town, involve arts, humanities or interpretive sciences and have a set date, time and approved venue. Grants are not given for capital expenditures or to for-profit organizations. Individuals and civic groups can donate funds the help support the work of the Shrewsbury Cultural Council.
