Shrewsbury – Last year, Shrewsbury Town Meeting members voted to approve a citizens’ petition that requested a ban on plastic shopping bags that are not compostable and marine degradable. At this year’s TM, another citizens’ petition requesting that the ban be overturned was not passed. As a result, the town will implement the ban starting on July 1.
That decision has not stopped the discussion on social media, however, as both sides have been vigorously defending their side of the debate.
