Bargain hunters support longtime fundraiser

Southborough – For over 60 years each fall and spring, frugal shoppers have looked forward to visiting the Bargain Box – a resale clothing shop for women, men and children – located in the Parish House basement of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Proceeds go to the church and area charities, including the food pantry and fuel assistance program. The shop is run by a group of volunteers, some of whom have worked there for decades.

Annual “Summer Nights” festival continues to delight

Southborough - Southborough residents and locals from surrounding towns gathered on the grounds of Margaret A. Neary Middle School for the 10th annual Summer Nights festival hosted by the Southborough Recreation Department Aug. 24. Children enjoyed horse rides, moon bounces, face painting, a magician, pizza and snacks, a live band, and a captivating fireworks finale. The event proved to be a major success once again amongst all its participants thanks to the efforts of the many volunteers who supported it, coupled with the hard work and dedication from Recreation Department staff members.

Where there’s smoke…there’s controversy

Southborough – The town of Southborough is the latest community to approve the first step in allowing a medical marijuana dispensary to be built in the town. Recently the Board of Selectmen voted to sign a letter of non-opposition that would allow Commonwealth Cannabis Co. to go ahead with the next step in opening a facility at 255 Turnpike Road (Route 9). The plan must still be approved by the state’s Department of Mental Health.
