Musgrave ‘launched” a quest for fulfillment

Southborough - Story Musgrave has never followed a traditional path. He attended St. Mark's School where his innate desire to explore different places and his passion to seek adventure might have seemed at odds with the expectations of the prestigious school. Because he felt more inclined to experience life rather than read about it in books, and because at the all-boy-school he missed seeing women, children, and families, he left prior to graduation. According to Musgrave, "Not graduating was the right thing to do. I just walked away. I departed."

Shrewsbury Farmers” Market celebrates successful first day

Shrewsbury – Hundreds of local residents and fans of local produce came out July 9 to celebrate the opening day of the Shrewsbury Farmers Market. From the moment it opened until it closed that evening, patrons perused the stalls in the market, located at Ski Ward, to purchase vegetables, fruits, baked goods, goat milk products, Alpaca products and honey.

Residents invited to tour Westborough TV’s new facility

Westborough – There is a resurgence going on in downtown Westborough. The Town Hall is currently undergoing a $7.3 million and the new fire station finally opened in November. The building at 25 W. Main St. has been torn down and replaced with a new multi-floor, multi-use building. And the former Avidia Bank, located at 33 W. Main St., also has a new owner – Westborough TV (WTV). And that is exactly where the nonprofit public access cable station should be, according to General Manager Karen Henderson - right in the heart of the downtown.

Giving thanks at Westborough High School

Westborough – If the Westborough High School community thought that perhaps they had the calendars mixed up and Thanksgiving was actually Nov. 16 this year, instead of Nov. 22, they could certainly be forgiven. On the 16th, the delicious aroma of turkey, vegetable dishes and pies was wafting through the air, courtesy of the Life Skills class. Each of the students in the Life Skills class has a different learning issue; the class is designed to teach basic skills so the participants can secure employment and live independently. As part of that initiative, they learn simple kitchen tasks including food preparation.

Shrewsbury's White City Plaza gets a face-lift

Shrewsbury - The iconic White City Plaza is undergoing some extensive renovations this summer. The plaza's owners, Charter Realty & Development Corp. have said that they hope these changes will make the plaza even more of a pleasant destination for shoppers who wish to visit the many stores and restaurants located there. Some of these renovations include a new signal and improved entrance on South Quinsigamond Street, parking lot upgrades, ADA-compliant sidewalks and enhanced landscaping. And a new shop, I-Craze Frozen Yogurt, was just given approval by the Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen to have a license to operate at the former Friendly's restaurant.
