An animal lover, Flanagan wanted to find a way to add quality to pets" lives. She felt that improving their health (physical as well as emotional) was the greatest gift and service she could provide. With this in mind, Flanagan became a certified pet massage instructor and small-animal masseuse and founded Paws That Matter - a pet massage service based in Massachusetts.

Promoting early cancer detection among young peers

Northborough/Southborough – The 15-40 Connection is a nonprofit organization, based in Westborough, with the mission to raise awareness that the cancer survival rate of teens and young adults hasn's improved for over 35 years. One of the ways the group is promoting the importance of early detection is by helping to form clubs in high schools and colleges. Last school year, Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS) in Northborough started a club prompted by a concerned student, Stephanie Madigan, who is now a senior.

Volunteers help more girls attend high school proms

Marlborough – For several years, hundreds of girls attended their high school prom properly dressed in an outfit they otherwise wouldn's have been able to afford. They received the gown and accessories free of charge at an annual event, which was originally organized by faculty members of Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School (AVRHS). The tradition will continue Saturday, March 2, at AVRTHS as the Metrowest Princess Boutique is hosted for the third year by the Marlborough Junior Woman's Club (MJWC). Over 100 volunteers are happy to assist that day, said MJWC President Theresa Frias.

Boston Scientific expansion program to start in April

Northborough selectmen praise post-storm cleanup

Northborough - The Board of Selectmen approved $70,000 in deficit spending to cover the costs of snow and ice removal required after the Feb. 8-9 blizzard at its Feb. 11 meeting. The post-storm cleanup cost the town approximately $72,000 in total, officials said.
