Westborough – “God gained a new angel.” “Your daughter was just such an inspiration.” “Everyone who met her will grieve for her but never forget her.”
Those were just some of the messages written by Westborough High School (WHS) students to the family of Lizzi Marriott, who graduated from the school in 2011. Lizzi was allegedly murdered by a New Hampshire man Tuesday, Oct. 9.
Many of the students” notes, which were written on large white banners displayed in the WHS lobby, echoed the comments that her father Robert said at a candlelight vigil held Saturday Oct. 13.
“Together we created an angel,” he said that night to the approximately 500 residents gathered at the Bay State Commons to mourn his daughter. “And she's home in heaven.”
Some students wrote that they had never met Lizzi but had heard wonderful things about her from other students and teachers.
Notes also offered love and encouragement for her family, especially her brother, also named Robert, who is a junior at the school.
Many notes also urged the Marriott family to remember they were not alone; ?their Westborough “family” would continue to be by their side.
“We are all here for you,” many of the messages stressed. “Stay strong.”
The banners will be presented to the Marriott family at a later date, according to John Smith, the WHS principal.
