Northborough selectmen discuss preliminary warrant

Northborough – Town Administrator John Coderre presented a draft of the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting (ATM) at the Feb. 25 Board of Selectmen’s meeting. There are currently 52 potential articles on the warrant, he said.

“A number of these are very little more than placeholders,” he noted. “There are no citizen petitions at this year’s meeting. We don’t have anything else that I’m aware of that is not included in this draft.”

Public Service Internship Program to continue in Marlborough

Marlborough – Mayor Arthur Vigeant has asked the City Council to continue the formal Public Service Internship Program for deserving college students and high school graduates. The program was inaugurated last year.

In his communication to the council at its Feb. 24 meeting, Vigeant said he welcomed any feedback or questions relative to the program. He also included statements of overwhelming support from participating department heads and their staffs.

Jacques, four Shrewsbury teens honored at SYFS gala

Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services, Inc. (SYFS), the town of Shrewsbury’s only private, nonprofit community counseling and social services agency, held its ninth annual and special 30th anniversary gala Feb. 23 at St. John’s High School. Honorees included Robert “Bob” Paul Jacques, a founding member who was honored with the 2013 Harry S. Cutting, Jr. Award, and Shrewsbury teens Kristen Grip, Nick Silverio, Aaron Hayden, and Jennifer Tylock, who received 2013 Outstanding Youth of Shrewsbury awards.
