Born July 3, 1931 to Philip and Lucille (Chadwick) Young Lyseth, Philip attended Westfield and Bridgewater State Colleges and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, Conn. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Upon his return, Philip worked in the food service business for most of his life, moving from chef to management. He worked for the Seiler Corporation and Sodexho USA for 23 years, spending much of that time as a purchasing agent before retiring in 1991. An avid sports enthusiast, in particular fishing, Philip enjoyed traveling with his wife across country where they completed the trip many times.
Philip is predeceased by his first wife, Barbara C. (Carlson) Lyseth, who died in 1967.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Mullholland Riguette) Lyseth, with whom he recently celebrated 49 years of marriage July 21. He leaves five children, Kevin Lyseth of Grafton; Keith Lyseth and his companion Cheryl Fraser and his two children, Margaret and Emma, of Northborough; Karen Baker and her husband Jeffrey of Worcester and their three daughters, Jacqueline Letourneau, Monica Hall and Renee Beaulieu; Kerry Cronin and her husband Steve of Worcester; and Kimberly Dumais and her fiancé Richard Hutt and her two children, Marc and Anastasia of Shrewsbury. He also leaves a sister, Nancy Higgins and her husband Jimmy of Conway, Ark.; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Austin and Harper; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Philips’s life by gathering for a calling hour Friday, Aug. 5, from(;30-10:30 a.m., at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury, followed by his funeral service at 10:30. Pastor Douglass Geeze will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
