Region – Summer heat drives many local residents to area beaches; fortunately no one has to drive too far to find a place to cool off during the long, hot and humid days.

Residents of Westborough and Northborough are welcome to visit Lake Chauncy Beach located at 60 Lyman St. in Westborough. The beach is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. through late August.

Red-Cross-certified lifeguards are stationed at the beach and there are rest rooms available, as well as a playground. The parking lot is handicapped-accessible. An ice cream truck comes by three times per day. The facility is open only to residents of the two communities, who may purchase a summer family pass for $50, or pay $2 per day for a walk-in pass.

Memorial Beach on Fort Meadow Reservoir is a destination for both Marlborough residents and non-residents. The beach, located at 690 Hosmer St. in Marlborough, is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through late August.

Lifeguards are stationed at Memorial Beach. The facility also includes restrooms, a snack shack, and playground. A season pass for residents is $40 and $50 dollars for non-residents. There is no charge for senior citizens.

Marlborough also runs two public wading pools – one at Ward Park, located on Orchard Street and the other at Farrell Field, located on Sawin Street. The pools are open from noon to 6 p.m. daily. There is no charge and both pools are open to the general public.

Hudson's Centennial Beach on the Fort Meadow Reservoir is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, through late August. The beach is located at 89 Fort Meadow Dr. Restrooms are available, and an ice cream truck serves the beach.

A season pass for residents is $20 and $40 for non-residents. Day passes are available for $5 for residents and $10 for non-residents. However, non-residents are unable to purchase a day pass on the weekends.

Contact your community's Recreation Department for information pertaining to swimming lessons offered at these beaches, or for additional details.
