Renée Greason, 86Venice, Fla. – Renée (Griffiths) Greason, 86, formerly of Shrewsbury, died Tuesday Aug. 23, 2011 at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.

Born Dec. 24, 1924 in New York, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Renée Huot Griffiths and Edward A. Griffiths. She graduated from St. Gabriel's High School in New Rochelle, N.Y. and attended LaSalle Junior College and the Chandler School in Boston. She was a resident of Shrewsbury for 38 years before retiring to Venice, Florida, and spent summers in Westborough.

Mrs. Greasaon was employed as a secretary to the Dean of Sargeant College and Boston University prior to raising her family. After raising her children, she enjoyed working in the gift shop at Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bradford T. Greason; her daughters, Linda Greason Yates and her husband David B. Yates Jr. of Sterling and Suzanne Greason Harlow and her husband Keith B. Harlow of Shrewsbury; and her grandsons, David B. Yates III, Alexander G. Yates and Bradford G. Harlow. A brother, Edward H. Griffiths, predeceased her.

She volunteered for many years at Memorial Hospital in Worcester and at Venice Hospital and the Taylor Ranch School in Venice, Fla. She served on the board of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the board of the Worcester Foundation Auxiliary. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader and was active in the Shrewsbury Women's Club and Shrewsbury Garden Club.

Mrs. Greason enjoyed many years of playing golf at Worcester Country Club and the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Florida. She loved skiing and was a loyal member of the “Loonies” ski group. She had many long lasting and deep friendships and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her honesty and always spoke her mind. She had the ability to find humor in any situation no matter how difficult. Although she was receiving dialysis treatments for over six years, she never let it interfere with living a full and happy life. She was an inspiration to her family and friends.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Fresenius Medical Care in Venice, Fla. and Marlborough and the staff who cared for her at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham and Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Westborough.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mrs. Greason's life by gathering Saturday Aug. 27, at 10 a.m., in Saint Bernadette's Church, 266 Main St., Northborough, where her memorial Mass will be celebrated. A reception will follow after the Mass in the parish hall. Burial will be private.
