Marlborough – Harold Sobel, 84, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2011 in Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center.
He leaves several nieces and nephews, Joanne Pollack and her husband and Dr. William Pollack of Westborough, Renee Rudnick and her husband Harold of Charlestown, Marlene Sharpe and her husband Darrell of Bushkill, Penn., Phyllis Kaplan of Worcester, Richard Sobel and his wife Lois of West Boylston, Michael Katz and his wife Maxine of Easton, Jacqueline Caplan and her husband Ron of New Jersey, Amy Sobel, Donna Sobel and her husband Barry Cowan of Boston, Andrew Sobel and his wife Pam of St. Louis, Howard Sobel and his wife Nan of Worcester, and David Sobel of Florida. He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Katz, and by his three brothers, Mitchell, Philip and Charles Sobel.
Born in Worcester, he was a son of Max and Ida (Lonstein) Sobel. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and served in Germany. He was honored by multiple recognitions for his service to Veterans at the Brockton Veterans Administration Hospital.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m., at the Worcester Hebrew Cemetery, Cemetery Road in Auburn. Perlman Funeral Home of Worcester is direction funeral arrangements.
