Northborough – Eagle Scout Mike Strickland helped to create the town's community gardens on Valentine Road. He worked with other Scouts, and spent over a year and a half planning and constructing the project as a part of his Eagle Scout requirement.
Northborough residents flocked to the gardens on the day of their opening, inspecting the site and congratulating Strickland on his project.
According to the town's Recreation Director Alison Lane, the gardens are a part of “building a healthier Northborough,” a plan aimed at fighting obesity and encouraging a healthy lifestyle in the town,
Northborough's DPW provides running water and a fence that runs around the site of the gardens.
