Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Historical Society has announced two scholarships for high school seniors.
The Stephen Porter Scholarship is given annually by the Shrewsbury Historical Society to a high school senior in memory of Stephen Porter, a longtime Shrewsbury Historical Society member who was actively involved in local history and the historic restoration and preservation of the District #5 Schoolhouse on the corner of Old Mill Road and West Main Street. The scholarship award is $500.
The Jean McDonald Graham Scholarship is given annually by the Shrewsbury Historical Society to a high school senior in memory of Jean Graham, a longtime Shrewsbury Historical Society member who dedicated much of her involvement to educating students about local history. It was her wish to see students continue to study history after high school. The scholarship award is $500.
Applications are available in mid-January at the Shrewsbury High School Guidance Office. Completed applications are due March 31.
